This class is an introduction to the ancient and creative art of fusing glass on metal. In this workshop, the student will learn design and color elements as well as techniques to include: preparation of the metal; enamel types; sifting enamels; stenciling; enameling tools; and safety considerations. Students will complete a minimum of three (3) jewelry size pieces that will be finished and wearable without the use of a torch or soldering techniques. All levels are welcome; limited to twelve students.

This workshop will take the student through the exploration of 3-D bas-relief styles including: Sgraffito; Hammered Metal; Stringers, Threads and Lumps; and an Introduction to Champleve. Students will complete a minimum of three jewelry pieces that will be wearable without the use of a torch or soldering techniques. Students must complete the "Enameling On Metal" class or get the instructors approval to take this class; limited to 12 students.
Instructor Bios
Ed and Genie have over 40 years combined experience as working Artists and teachers. They have done numerous art shows and fairs and have displayed their works in many Galleries. They have designed and directed Art Programs in Florida and South Carolina that incorporated over 3,000 students and over 40 art instructors.
Ed moved to Arizona three years ago after owning and managing his Art Gallery in Tarpon Springs, Florida and he is currently the Arizona state representative for Sunshine Artist Magazine doing Art Show reviews across the state.
Genie moved to Tucson over a year ago and now splits her time between here and Columbia, South Carolina doing Art Shows and teaching in both regions.
Both Genie and Ed teach Warm Glass courses including: Fusing, Slumping, and Draping techniques and are looking forward to offering the new Enamel On Metal Program at Sonoran Glass Art Academy.
Both Artists are Silversmiths and Enamelists and have created Lampwork Beads. Ed has also been doing Lapidary and Scrimshaw for over thirty years and loves to combine various techniques from different mediums into his projects.
