With use of cane, murrine, and color threading methods, you will push the limits of your encalmos and your own ability. This fun, intense workshop focuses on using hot glass roll-ups to create vibrant art glass. The slide show will offer fuel to spark your imagination and Saturday will be spent pulling various types of cane. After annealing the cane, students will arrange their roll-up compositions at their convenience during the week. On the following Saturday, we will roll up the canes to finish the final forms. Students can expect to leave the workshop with a finished piece, extra cane, and the skills to do it again! Students provide their own color bar, all other materials provided. Intermediate to advanced skill level required.

Since this is a two-day class, Ferdinand will perform many demos with the students as assistants, in order to allow for student practice of techniques. Ferdinand will "do my best to cram as much information in your brains as I can!"

Tucson Glass Festival Workshop!!

Undocumented Glass- 2 Mexicans in the Shop

Members $700 • Non-Members $725
Sunday demo, 5 - 9pm

Monday & Tuesday, 10am - 6pm
April 10 - 12

Guest Instructors: Einar and Jamex de la Torre

During this class, Einar and Jamex will explore the most direct paths to self-expression through hot glass sculpture. With an emphasis on applied bit work, the de la Torre brothers will demonstrate techniques for glass sculpting and quick application of color. Because of limited class time, mixed media will only be discussed as well as the use of fasteners and glues and the assemblage process. The workshop aims to create an attitude with the material in terms of what it can do for you and your ideas. Students are urged to bring drawings, used to convey ideas so we can 'translate' them into 3 dimensional glass sculptures. Some hot glass experience required.
