Flame Off! 2009???
It was with much sadness that SGAA could not host a Flame Off in 2008. We found out in January of 2007, that the Tucson Fire Department would only grant permission for only one more Flame Off. Why? "Open flame or other devices emitting flame or heat shall not be permitted inside or located within 20 feet of a tent while open to the public. Building does not have the space needed for the event."
Why let that stop us? If we can't have the Flame Off! here, let's go somewhere else! The Staff and Board of SGAA are determined and committed to finding a new location for our beloved Flame Off! for February 2009. Stay tuned!!!
FLAME OFF!
 Founded right here in Tucson, by Tom Philabaum, the event has grown into a premier flame working competition. Artists and art lovers from all over the world come to celebrate, create, and marvel at the extraordinary talent of the flame workers and the fantastic art that can be created in this medium. It is a highlight of the Gem and Mineral show and draws hundreds of people for an weekend of great entertainment.
