Flame Off! 2012

Heat up the winter at SGAA's 10th Annual Flame Off! Competition! Founded here in Tucson, the event has grown into a highly anticipated flameworking competition. Flame Off! is: 24 Glass Artists from across the globe competing against the clock to create the wildest glass art creations either solo or in pairs. The Flame Off!, a highlight of the Gem and Mineral Show, draws upwards of 500 hundred people for a night of spectacular entertainment, providing the ultimate opportunity to get together to celebrate everything that is fun and exciting about glass!

6pm: Doors open

6:15-6:45: Orbital (inside & outside)

7-8pm: Session I

8-8:30: Cabaret (inside), Elemental Artistry (outside)

8:30-10:30: Session II

11pm-1am: Live Music by 8 Minutes to Burn

This year's event will feature 2 sessions of competition, cash bars, pizza by Empire Pizza, fire arts performances, local music, and live glass art creation by 24 phenomenal flameworkers! Session 1 will feature 12 solo artists competing within the theme "Fantasy of Fire." During Session 2, 2 teams will compete head to head against other teams (4 total). The theme for these face-offs will be announced at the Flame Off! Bid on pieces being created right in front of your eyes! Live Auction bidding will take place until the event ends and then the pieces will move to the Best Bead Show for the close of Silent Auction bidding on Sunday, February 5th. Best Bead Show is located at 2805 E. Ajo Way.
