Hot Glass!
featuring Instructors of the Sonoran Glass Art Academy
January 24-March 13, 2007
Meet the artists at the reception for the Arizona Designer Craftsmen exhibit Thursday, March 8, 5:30-7:30pm
Hot Glass! will display the work of thirteen artist-instructors who teach at the Sonoran Glass Art Academy, a glassblowing school in the desert Southwest founded by glass artists Tom Philabaum and Dave Klein. SGAA is a state-of-the-art glass blowing studio near downtown Tucson where students can study alongside some of the best glassblowers in the country. Teachers provide instruction in glassblowing, flame working, and a variety of related glass disciplines. An equally diverse range of techniques were used by SGAA instructors to create the work in our exhibit, including highly-detailed glass bead jewelry, delicate flame-worked goblets, and abstract sculptural vessels and forms.
Tohono Chul is open Daily from 10 to 4 p.m.
