Guest Instructor: Milon Townsend
Just before the Gem Show, Milon will conduct his 5-day lost wax and reverse relief kiln casting workshop. This class will center on practical, accessible methods that will allow anyone who can cook to successfully create lost wax and reverse relief castings in glass. The class will use System 96 glass, compatible with both flameworking and furnace glassblowing, so students will be able to cast any small object. Originals can be made from any material, and can be artwork or found objects. The class will include: making silicone rubber molds, wax positives, 3-D forms with undercuts, preparing waxes, incorporating flameworked elements into cast forms, and anything else you and Milon can imagine for casting glass! No previous experience required.
