Jack Morris | Learning to Upgrade: An Exploration of Contemporary Flameworking Techniques

$350.00$400.00

Instructor Jack Morris
March 10 & 11, 2018
Saturday & Sunday 10AM-4PM

Working with borosilicate glass I attempt to find a voice in the craft and create imagery that is distinctly my own. In this class you will learn how to take your own sculpting skills to the next level.

In a time when trends and fads are all the rage, you will develop the skills needed to manifest ideas into reality and create and communicate your ideas through a recognizable cast of characters. You will learn the physics and “rules” of glassblowing and how to befriend the medium rather than fight it. Understaind the science of glass will help you in ways you never will have realized and creat a paradigm shift that will elevate your skills.

This two-day class will include demonstrations and hands-on learning that will include creating a personalized style in functional and wearable art. You will learn how to make realistic eye murrine, hollow forms and shaping, and advanced sculpting techniques. Student request for more techniques to learn will be encouraged, as this style of work focuses on improvisation and creativity. All levels of skill are in welcome in this class, you will learn something. Students should approach this class with ideas, problems, and questions they want answered.
