Pattern Bar Segment Slab

December 9, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Pattern Bar Segment Slab

Instructor Alysa Phiel

Learn how to create simple strip pattern bars that are cut and assembled in a containment dam. These will then be fired to flow out and create stunning pattern effects. You will create a variety of pattern bar strips that will be fired and ready to use during studio time or at home. A nice selection of pre-made, pre-fired pattern bars will be available for each student to create a 6 x 6″ flow plate that day.

Demos will be given in the cutting of the bar and final coldworking of your dish. We will also discuss various damming techniques. Please see class notes below for glass needs. Glass cutting experience and cold shop certification are required for this class.

Cold shop certification does not need to be completed prior to taking this class. However, to incorporate your color bar components into your projects, they must be cold-work finished and you must have cold shop certification. Cold shop certification takes approximately 1 hour and costs $35.00. Scheduling can be done with Alysa.
