There is a $15 material fee due the first day of class.
Variations on the folded bead, all levels, in soft glass.
Explore the nuances of the folded bead, a glass bead design originally made in the middle ages in the middle east by furnace winding. Tom will teach at least three variations on this technique through lampworking.
This bead has a mysterious ancient history and the technique itself was lost around the 1400s. The method allows for a playful contemporary expression, using it in new ways as well as the ancient/authentic examples. This mysterious bead has many names but is most commonly known as the folded bead of the Islamic period.
Class is subject to cancellation if minimum number of students is not met.
Some classes require protective eye wear (eye wear provided by SGS). All students required to wear closed toed-shoes.
